The women in this photograph are from a town in Guanajuato, Mexico. Amalia M.H., who sits at the group's center, shared this image with me. She had referred to them as the women who came together to sew, embroider, and crochet. My grandmother, her comadre are among the younger members of the group. Amalia informed me that she was the final elder remaining in the group. These powerful women have forged a lasting legacy with their unwavering strength and unrelenting determination. They have achieved remarkable feats with their expert hands and unbreakable minds. We will miss her stories and clever humor, but I take comfort in knowing she and her loved ones are reunited and sewing together again.
